Easee has been working tirelessly to be ready for the second deadline — December 30 — of the UK Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021.
We are pleased to inform you that we have managed to upgrade our products so that they fall in line with the regulatory requirements.
This has meant creating a few new things "under the hood". One of those is a completely new microchip. This new chip brings the power of secure boot-up and incredible encryption capabilities. With this new element in our chargers we are able to ensure industry-standard security and put you and your safety first.
We have actively worked with a third-party security company to bring this new functionality to the market in a way that not simply complies with higher standards but also makes sense for users and us as Easee. By working with our security partner, we have been able to get external insights and honest feedback so that we know we are doing things the right way.
Further, we have validated everything with independent testing. It is important to us that you trust in us and our chargers, and that is why we turned to security testing companies who will find all of the possible, even theoretical, flaws so we could improve safety and prevent problems before they happen.
We are excited to share our innovations and third-party insights with you all soon, but for now we are working to get these new chargers available in the UK starting in mid January of 2023.
From us all at Easee, we wish you a happy festive season, and we look forward to working with you in the new year to lift the industry up in line with the reform these new regulations have introduced.
