The Easee Equalizer is a small and easy-to-install device. This guide focuses on how to install the Equalizer on sites with a smart meter. If you don't have a smart meter on your site, follow this guide: Installing the Equalizer (without smart meter)
Communication between Equalizer and Easee Home charger
It is important that your Equalizer can communicate with your charger. This is done by either using WiFi or by communication via Easee Radio Link. Easee Radio Link is a communication between the Equalizer and Easee Home charger with a range of up to 50 meters.
If you are unable to place the Equalizer close to your charger or want to place the Equalizer farther away, they can also communicate if they are on the same WiFi network.
HAN or P1 port
The Easee Equalizer requires a compatible smart meter and an Easee charger.
In order for the Equalizer to work, the HAN or P1 Port on your meter must be activated.
If the HAN/P1 port is not open/active, the Equalizer will not get power or data.
The HAN/P1 port can be opened by contacting your local grid operator. Note that the grid operator may not be the same as your electricity provider. Opening the port may take several days depending on your grid operator.
Only the person set as owner of the meter can activate the HAN port. The owner is usually the receiver of the electricity invoice.
Pairing
When your HAN/P1 port is open, you are ready to pair the Equalizer to your charger.

Before you start: make sure your Easee Home charger is connected to the same WiFi as you want the Equalizer to connect to. If you do not have WiFi available, the Equalizer can't be added to the Easee App.
The Equalizer will still work without the app, but data from the Equalizer won't be visible in the Easee App or Easee Portal.

Make sure the Easee Home is updated and has a firmware version higher than 248.
Pairing with the Easee App
We recommend using the Easee App to pair the Equalizer.
- In the Easee app, open the main menu. Press Products.
- Press the blue + and select Equalizer.
- Select Phone and press Next.
A list of sites are shown.
- Select a site and press Next.
If you are not connected to WiFi you will be prompted to connect or continue without WiFi. If you connect you will go through the process of connecting to a network and return to the next step.
Press I understand if you chose to continue without WiFi.
- Enter the value for the main fuse size and press Next.

- Once scanned, an animation showing you how to connect the cable is shown. Once you have connected the cable, press Next.
The Equalizer will start up.
Pairing using the Easee Home charger
You can also use the Easee Home charger to pair your Equalizer.
The Equalizer does not need to be connected to a power source to pair this way.

Hold the frontside of the Equalizer over the light strip of the Easee charger and move it slowly downwards. When the charger lights green, the pairing is done!
It is possible to set WiFi or modify WiFi settings for the Equalizer using the Easee app. The WiFi settings will then be set using Easee Link RF from master charger to Equalizer. See more at: How do I change the Equalizer's Wifi?
- Plug the Equalizer into your HAN/P1 port. After around 30 seconds, it should start flashing white while connecting to your WiFi. Once connected, it is automatically added to the Easee app.
When pairing the Equalizer with the charger, information about the charger's WiFi as well as the technical information about your charging site is transferred to the Equalizer.
The owner of the charging site will receive an email and a push notification from the Easee app once the Equalizer is connected to the meter and communicating with the Easee Cloud. At this point, the Equalizer will automatically be available under My products on the Easee Portal or in the Easee app.
Mounting
Place the magnetic backside of the Equalizer directly on a metallic surface. If a metallic surface is not available, fix the included metallic disc with the screw found in the box and then snap the Equalizer to it.
For better communication with the Easee charger, place the Equalizer outside of the fuse cabinet. When outdoors, the Equalizer should be protected from the weather, for example inside the fuse cabinet.
