A site's access control can only be changed if the operator of the site is set to Easee. Access control on sites set to other operators will need to use that operator's app.
This setting is where you can administrate the users with access to a site and the access level to the chargers on the site. There are two ways of setting the access level on a charging site. All charging sites will use one or a combination of the two:
- Site access level.
- Unlinked charger access level.
The available access levels:
- Open for everyone, means anyone can charge without the need for authentication. Because of this, there will not be a consumption report available for individual users, only for each charger.
- Access to all users with an Easee account, means that anyone with an Easee account can charge. The user will need to authenticate with an Easee Key. You will get consumption report on each user, but the user might be unknown.
- Access only for approved users, means only users added to the site/charger can charge. The users will need to authenticate with an Easee Key. Consumption reports will be available, and you will have control over who can charge.
The site access level will affect all linked chargers on the site. The chargers are linked to the site by default and can be seen under the Access control tab. If you set it to Access only to approved users, you will have to add all the user to the site with their phone number. Users will have to make an Easee account and add Easee keys to their profile. The keys will be used to authenticate the charging sessions for each user.
If the users have reserved parking spots, you can still use this setting because the charging session needs to be authenticated by the user. If a user is charging on the "wrong" charger, the consumption will still be added to his account, and can be seen in the consumption report under the user's name.
Unlinking chargers
If you don't want users to have access to each other's chargers, you will have to unlink the chargers form the site. The charge will still be physically connected to the charging site, but removed from the virtual site access level. When doing this you will have to set each individual charger as Access only for approved users and add the users to the specific charger. A user that is added to an unlinked charger cannot use the linked chargers, unless added as a site user as well.
A combination between linked and unlinked chargers are useful if the site has both reserved and shared parking spots. The shared chargers can be linked to the site access level, and all the users added to the site. While the reserved chargers can be unlinked and only available for the allowed users.
Charging reports can be generated in the easee.cloud portal. Read more here: Consumption Report.
Keep in mind that chargers that are added to the site will be default linked. If a chargeberry is installed at a later point, the access level might need to be changed to fit your existing site access.
All the users on the charging site must make an Easee Account. In their account, they can add Easee keys to authenticate the charging. More information here: Adding an Easee Key (RFID keytag) from the Easee app
If the charger is affected by site access level, the user will see the charger in their app after authentication. When the charging session is done, the charger will disappear. To be able to see the charger permanently in the app, the charger needs to be unlinked from the site.
