What does the "Broken cable" error message mean in the Easee App?
If you have received a "broken cable" error message in the Easee app, it means that the charger has detected a problem with your charging cable.
The error may be due to:
- A defective charging cable that has incorrect resistance.
- A cable that is outside the acceptable charging standard, which means we cannot permit charging.
According to international standards, charging cables must have a resistance between 60 ohms and 4500 ohms. Cables falling outside this range cannot be used for charging due to safety concerns.
An electrician can easily check the resistance of the cable by measuring between the indicated points (see the attached image). If the resistance is below 60 ohms or above 4500 ohms, the cable does not meet safety requirements and cannot be used for charging.
Why are these cables not allowed?
Safety is our top priority. If the resistance of the charging cable is not within the permitted range, we cannot determine how much load the cable can withstand. This can lead to dangerous situations such as overloading and overheating, which can damage both the vehicle and the charger.
To ensure safe charging, we therefore recommend replacing the cable if it does not meet the necessary standards.
