Setting up Smart Charging

  • Updated

Smart Charging is available only in the UK and Ireland at this time.

Easee Smart Charging is a type of scheduling that lets you charge your car only when prices are at or below a certain amount.

There are two parts to setting up Smart Charging:

Tariff Selection

Exceptional Information Warning Tariffs are handled at the site level, not at the charger level. All chargers on a site will have the same tariff schedule. For this reason, only Site Owners and Site Admins can enable tariffs or change tariff settings.

  1. To open the Smart Charging section, press Schedule on the charger screen to open the Schedule tab, then press Smart charging.

    The Smart Charging instructions screen.

The Smart charging instructions are shown.

  2. Press Let's go after reading the instructions.

  3. Select your energy provider.

If your energy provider is not listed, press Skip. You will need to manually enter your tariffs.

  4. The methods of logging in are dependent on your energy supplier. Some suppliers require you to log in, some present you with an Energy plan dropdown list. Both are shown below.

If you are entering the tariff manually, press Set tariff manually or Skip, depending on your screen. Then enter the type of tariff and amount.

Smart Charging Schedule

Once you have enabled smart charging, you can now set how it is used.

  1. Press Schedule on the charger screen to open the Schedule tab, then press Smart charging.

  2. Press Price cap to set the maximum limit for the kWh (kilowatt-hour) price.

The tariff amount sent by the provider is not automatically added as the price cap. You set the maximum price you will pay, and will be compared to the price given by the energy supplier.

  3. Once you have saved the price cap, the schedule will show the available charging times based on your price cap and the energy supplier's price.

Times where energy is at or below the price are shown in blue, and times when energy is above the price are shown in grey. With tariffs set, the charger will only automatically operate during the periods shown in blue.
