In order to authenticate and start charging on a charger with restricted access you need to have an Easee Key or a compatible RFID keytag or device paired to your user profile. If you do not have a keytag added to your profile you can use the Easee app to authenticate the key and start charging.

Most RFID keytags are supported, such as your wireless payment card, the keytag for your door lock, and so forth.

Apple products are currently not supported RFID devices. Apple products change their frequency ID frequently, so the chargers can not store the identifying value.

You can add keys through Easee Control or through the app. To add keys through the app, go to Adding an Easee Key from the Easee app.

What is the difference between an Account key and a Local key?

An Account key is a key connected to your account. It will track you use, and you can assign it to unlock devices you have access to. You can have multiple Account keys. This type of key would be associated with one person or account, to use at different chargers.

An Account key can be linked to only one user account.

A Local key is a key that is used strictly as a key to gain access to a charger. This type of key would be used at only one charger by whoever holds that key. An example would be a building owner giving keys to tenants to use the charger associated with their unit. 

How to add an Easee Key using Easee Control

When you add keys from Easee Control you need the Easee Key's unique number.

You start on the Easee Key tab in your account settings. To get to the Easee Key tab, follow these directions:

1. Click your name in the top right corner. The drop-down menu appears.
2. In the drop-down menu, click Account Settings. If you are logged in to a company account, make sure you click Account Settings. Do not click Company Settings. 
   Your user profile appears.
3. Click the Easee Key tab.

Once you are on the Easee Key tab, follow these steps:

1. Type a Key name for your Easee Key to quickly and easily identify it, like "Car keys".
2. Type in the Easee Key number on the Easee Key.
3. Click Add.

Your key is now added and ready to use.

How to delete an Easee Key using Easee Control

You start on the Easee Key tab in account settings. To get to the Easee Key tab, follow these directions:

1. Click your name in the top right corner. The drop-down menu appears.
2. In the drop-down menu, click Account Settings. If you are logged in to a company account, make sure you click Account Settings. Do not click Company Settings. 
   Your user profile appears.
3. Click the Easee Key tab.

Once you are on the Easee Key tab, follow these steps:

1. The list of keys on your account is displayed.
2. Press - to delete the key.
3. A pop-up asks you to verify deleting the key. Press OK to confirm.

Your key is now deleted.

If you are using local keys, they should be connected to an account you control. That makes them easier to control. Otherwise you must delete all keys from a charger for access, then re-add the keys you wish to use for local access.
