Equalizer Modbus Ready
Compatible power meters, and what is needed
The Equalizer Modbus Ready is a versatile kit that enables load balancing through 3rd party power meters (see list of supported power meters). In the kit you will find an Equalizer (P1) and a Modbus cable (E02-QPMBC). You will have to provide a power supply (24 VDC) and a power meter with current sensor(s).

Components needed
The Equalizer Modbus Ready kit will include the Equalizer (P1) and a Modbus cable (E02-QPMBC).
In addition, you will need:
- a 24 V DC power supply (depending on the power meter)
- CT-clamps or Rogowski coils (depending on installation and compatibility with power meter)
- a power meter
The power supply is to power the Equalizer (100 mA) but can also be used for the power meter if necessary. If the power meter has a 24 V DC output, this can in many cases be used instead of an additional power supply.
The power meter must be compatible with the Equalizer. For some of the power meters you will need additional CT clamps or Rogowski coils. These need to be compatible with your chosen power meter and may need additional configuration of the current sensor rating.

Installing
This guide is a general workflow and may have more steps than what is required for your power meter. The installation requires you to read the 3rd party manual to be familiar with the products safety and technical specifications.
This product shall only be installed, repaired, or serviced by an authorised electrician. All applicable local, regional, and national regulations for electrical installation must be respected.
Generic installation guide:
- Mount the power meter and the power supply (24 VDC) on a DIN rail in the fuse cabinet. The power supply provides 24 V DC operating current to the Equalizer and the power meter (not all power meters need external power supply).
- Connect the terminals for 230 V operating current to the power meter and power supply (24 V DC). We recommend using a separate fuse of 10 A.
- Connect the 24 V DC current from the power supply to the V+ and V- on the Modbus cable.
- Connect phase- and neutral conductors to the terminals of the power meter for voltage measurement. Some power meters require PE to be connected.
- Connect the wires from the current sensor(s) to the power meter.
- Attach one current sensor around each conductor either in front of or behind the main fuse in the fuse cabinet. Ensure the sensors are connected correctly, the marked arrow on the sensor must point towards the load.
- Connect the RS485 communication ports from the power meter to the Modbus cable A and B terminals. It's important that the shielding on the communications cable is connected to terminal G on the Modbus cable.
Configure the power meter:
- Configure the current sensor rating.
- Configure grid system (TN, IT, 1 phase, 3 phase, etc)
Configuring the Equalizer:
- Go to Ongoing sites or Update existing site and select the site.
- Under Site structure, select Add Equalizer.
- Enter the WiFi information. The Equalizer and the master charger must be connected to the same WiFi network. This also applies for multiple charging circuits.
- Hold the front of the Equalizer to your mobile phone to transmit the WiFi-details. The Equalizer can not receive the information if the RJ12 cable is connected.
- Connect the Equalizer to the Modbus Cable.
- Go to Site settings, then Equalizer. From there select Meter type and select the meter used in your system.
- For installations with more than one circuit, we strongly suggest setting an upper limit value for the entire charging site (eMobility fuse). To enter this value, start at Site settings, then press Equalizer, then press Max allocated current.
