Yes, Easee chargers do not need to be connected to the internet (online) to charge. We recommend that chargers are connected to your local WiFi, with the 4G network as a backup. In that case, if your device loses connection with WiFi, it will automatically switch and use the 4G connection.
If you have good WiFi and 4G coverage but are still offline, check the status page to monitor the status of our Cloud: status.easee.com
If you have another operator than Easee, it means that your device is connected to another backend and therefore you may not be able to start a charging session if your device is offline.
While your charger is offline, certain actions will be affected:
- You cannot create a schedule or modify an existing schedule.
- Your consumption reports may be erroneous as your device won't record the start/end time of the session properly.
- You cannot update the charger's software while the charger is offline.
Using a charging schedule when offline
If you have a charging schedule set up when the charger goes offline, the charger will continue to use the charging schedule. You cannot add or modify a schedule while the charger is offline.
Charging the car offline
If you have limited your Easee Charger to certain users, or use a schedule to limit its use to certain hours, then any RFID key can be used to allow charging. It does not have to be already authenticated or known to the charger. It does not have to be within the scheduled charging hours. Connect the charging cable to your car and charger, then tap any RFID, such as a bankcard, to the charger, and it will start charging.
How to override the charging schedule while offline without RFID
If you have set a schedule and the charger is offline, you can use your Bluetooth connection to the charger to override the schedule. This allows you to charge during times the schedule would prevent charging.
- Make sure the vehicle is not plugged in to the charger.
- Connect to the charger from the app using Bluetooth.
- Once the connection is established, plug the charging cable into the vehicle.
- The charging card will show a black start button. Press to override the schedule.
You must override the schedule for each charging session.
