Understanding Erratic Charging Behavior

  • Updated

What does it mean if my electric vehicle (EV) displays an error message about the charger turning on and off too many times?

This error message typically indicates that your EV's charging process has been interrupted multiple times in a short period.

What should I do if I encounter this error message?

If you receive this error message, the first step is to reset the charging session. You can do this by following these steps:

  1. Turn off the charger: If the vehicle is charging, stop the charging session.
  2. Remove the Charging Cable: Safely disconnect the charging cable from both your EV and the charging station.
Exceptional Information Warning If the charger's locking arm is engaged and won't unlock, please visit this page for assistance: [The charging cable is stuck]

  3. Wait: Allow a few seconds to let any residual electrical charges to dissipate.

  4. Re-insert the Charging Cable: Carefully re-insert the charging cable into both the EV's charging port and the charging station.

What should I do if the error persists after resetting the charging process?

If the error message continues to appear even after resetting the charging process, it's advisable to contact your car dealer or authorized service center for assistance. They can perform a thorough diagnosis of the issue and provide necessary repairs or troubleshooting steps.

Exceptional Information Warning This can also be due to high voltages which should not be higher than 230 V +/- 10% and 400 V +/- 10%. In this case we recommend contacting the power company and report the high voltages because this can cause harm to a lot of connected electrical equipment.

What could be causing this erratic charging behavior?

Several factors could contribute to erratic charging behavior, including:

  • Faulty EV Components: Issues with the vehicle's hardware or software could disrupt the charging process.

  • Improper cabling: Using a cable other than the Easee cable could cause errors or cause false readings in the charger, causing alerts.

  • Electrical Interference: Environmental factors such as electrical interference or power fluctuations may impact the charging process.
