Planning an Easee installation

Review the main considerations for planning, configuring and handing over an Easee installation.

01

Before you start

Confirm the installation responsibilities, then prepare the access and tools needed to configure the site.

This is a planning guide, not a complete installation procedure. Use it together with the installer guide for the exact product, a site-specific electrical assessment and all applicable regulations. The authorised electrician remains responsible for the design and installation. An Easee charger installation video is available at the end of the article.

Authorised electrician required

Easee products may only be installed, repaired or serviced by an authorised electrician. All applicable regulations must be followed.

Installer Company account required

To configure a site, your Easee account must be connected to an Installer Company. If no company is linked yet, create an Installer Company or join an existing one.

Download the Installer App

Create and configure the site, then program the backplates.

The phone must support Bluetooth or NFC. Use NFC to program a backplate before installing the Chargeberry. Bluetooth is available for supported configuration flows when the Chargeberry is powered on.

02

Choose the site and product group

Review the product-specific circuit limits before completing the site design.

Charge Up, Charge Max and Easee One

Confirm that the selected product is available and approved for the market.

Chargers per circuit
Up to 3
Circuit protection
Up to 40 A
Short-circuit current
Maximum 10 kA

Easee Charge Core and Easee Charge Pro

Use the product-specific guide to confirm the supported site configuration.

Circuit protection
Up to 80 A
Charge Core per circuit
Up to 101
Short-circuit current
Maximum 10 kA

Condition for both product groups: The stated circuit protection limits apply only when the maximum short-circuit current of 10 kA is not exceeded.

Keep one product group per circuit

SDU and MDU chargers cannot be combined on the same circuit. A site may contain several circuits when the site design supports it.

Planning reference for larger sites

As a planning reference, Easee recommends up to 25 chargers on a 63 A TN 400 V three-phase circuit and up to 15 chargers on a 63 A IT 230 V three-phase circuit. These figures are recommendations, not a substitute for a site-specific electrical design or the product-specific limits.

03

Plan the electrical capacity

Consider current demand, future expansion and the electrical conditions at the site.

Consider dynamic load balancing

When several chargers share one circuit, the available current is distributed dynamically between them. An Easee Equalizer can be used when charging should also adapt to the available capacity of the building.

Short-circuit currentMaximum 10 kA
Copper conductor · single connection2.5–16 mm²
Copper conductor · parallel connection2.5–10 mm²
Terminal torque5 Nm
Questions to consider during planning
  • What are the customer’s current needs and expectations?
  • Is future expansion or the addition of more chargers expected?
  • Is the incoming supply cable suitable for the planned installation?
  • How will the charging circuit be protected?
  • Which installation method and cable route are planned?
  • Which grid system is present, and are there any three-phase limitations?
  • Which conductor size, overcurrent protection and overvoltage protection are appropriate for the site?
Easee planning recommendations
  • Where possible and supported by the grid, vehicle and local requirements, consider a three-phase installation to support future charging needs.
  • Where possible, Easee recommends using the largest approved cable cross-section within the product limits. This can make it easier to add chargers later.
  • Consider installing Easee Ready backplates and blind covers where future charging points are planned.
  • An upstream RCD may be installed when local regulations require protection for the supply cable.
  • When an Equalizer is used, the phase sequence at the power meter and the chargers must match.

Confirm all values against the installer guide for the exact product and variant. The authorised electrician determines the conductor sizing, protective devices and installation method for the site.

04

Installation overview

These points provide orientation only. Follow the installer guide for the exact product throughout the installation.

01

Position

Consider accessibility, installation height, clearances and impact protection.

02

Connect

Phase identification should remain consistent with the rest of the installation. Confirm all connections against the product guide.

03

Fit

The Chargeberry must be fully seated and click securely into the backplate.

04

Secure

The padlock bracket can be used to prevent theft or swapping before the front cover is fitted.

Physical installation details
  • Easee generally recommends an installation height of 130–140 cm. Confirm the product-specific requirements before installation.
  • The specified terminal torque is 5 Nm. Follow the product-specific installer guide when preparing and tightening the conductors.
  • If the Chargeberry does not click into place, inspect the pins and connectors before continuing.
05

Configure the site

Use the Installer App to configure the site and store the circuit information on the NFC chip in each backplate.

01

Create the site

Select the site type and enter the address.

02

Enter fuse values

Add the verified main fuse and circuit fuse.

03

Program backplates

Transfer the site and circuit data using NFC.

04

Upload the circuit

Check the configuration and upload it to the Easee Cloud.

Information to have ready
  • Site type and address
  • Operator details, where relevant
  • Main fuse and charging circuit fuse
  • WiFi details
  • The future owner or site administrator
06

Complete the handover

Provide the charger details, then transfer the Easee site or its ownership to the customer.

01

Store the charger details

Serial number and PIN are printed on the sticker attached to the Chargeberry. Store the sticker safely, for example inside the fuse cabinet.

02

Transfer the site or its ownership

After uploading the circuit, transfer the Easee site or its ownership to the customer by email or with a generated sharing link.

03

Accept the transfer

The customer opens the link from the email or message, signs in or creates an Easee account, and accepts the transfer. The product then appears automatically in their Easee App.

04

Explain site management

Show the customer how to use the charger in the Easee App. Larger or shared sites may be managed in Easee Control or by a charging operator.
