Charging is slower than expected
Find what is limiting charging current and what to check next.
When charging is slow, first separate the current the charger can offer from the current the vehicle chooses to use. Available energy in the Easee App shows whether an Easee limit is reducing the current. If a limit is active, follow its exact label below. If no unexpected limit is active, continue with the vehicle, cable and installation checks.
01Check the current available to the session
Start here before changing settings: Available energy shows what the charger can currently offer.
- Open the charger in the Easee App.
- Select the lightning/current button beside the displayed current.
- Open Available energy and review the highlighted message.
You can switch between amperes (A) and watts (W). This changes the unit, not the meaning of the active limit.
The vehicle may still draw less current than the charger makes available.
If a limit is highlighted, continue to 02. If no unexpected limit is active, go directly to 04.
02Find the exact active limit
The message at the top describes the situation; the highlighted row below gives the exact label to open in 03.
The yellow exclamation symbol is not automatically an error
It marks the row that is currently limiting available charging current. Other rows show configured or possible limits and may not explain the current speed.
Example: Circuit fuse size
Circuit fuse size can control charging during normal operation. It reflects the fuse size configured for the charging circuit.
Example: Equalizer limit
Equalizer limit means building consumption is temporarily reducing the current available for charging.

Open the same highlighted row label in 03 to see what it means and what to check.
03Follow the matching route
Open only the label that matches the highlighted row in the App. You do not need to work through the other limits.
Max charger currentThe configured maximum for this charger is controlling the available current.
What it means
The charger has reached the maximum current configured for this individual charger.
What to do
Check the charger settings if your access level allows it. Otherwise, ask the site owner, administrator or installer whether the configured value is correct.
Cable/car limitThe vehicle is requesting less current, or the cable supports less current.
What it means
This can be normal when charging begins or the battery is nearly full. The charger cannot make the vehicle draw more current than it requests.
What to do
Check the charging settings in the vehicle or its app and the rating printed on the cable. If available, compare the session with another compatible cable.
Circuit fuse sizeThe configured fuse size for the charging circuit is the active ceiling.
What it means
Charging has reached the fuse size configured for the circuit. This can be completely normal and does not indicate a fault by itself.
What to do
No action is needed if the value matches the installation. If you believe it is incorrect, ask an authorised installer to check the configuration against the installed fuse.
Max circuit limitThe configured maximum for the charging circuit is controlling the current.
What it means
Charging has reached the maximum current configured for the complete charging circuit.
What to do
This is an installation setting. Ask the site administrator or an authorised installer to check it if the value is unexpected.
Temporary charging limit / Dynamic circuit limitA connected control source has temporarily reduced the available current.
What it means
These two App labels describe the same underlying limitation logic. The active state alone does not identify the exact external reason.
What to do
Check the service that controls charging. At a managed or shared site, ask the site administrator or charging operator whether an external limit is active.
Equalizer limitThe building is currently using more of the available power.
What it means
The Equalizer has reduced charging current to protect the available site capacity. The current normally increases automatically when building consumption falls.
What to do
Usually, no action is needed. If the limit remains active unexpectedly, check the Equalizer status and communication. Then contact the installer or Easee Support if the cause is still unclear.
Max circuit limit (Fallback)A fallback value is active because the normal dynamic limit is unavailable.
What it means
This can happen when communication with the Equalizer or a connected third-party system, such as an energy manager, is interrupted.
What to do
Check the Equalizer or third-party system responsible for controlling charging. If the fallback remains active, contact the installer, site administrator or integration provider.
Schedule limitA schedule is restricting when charging can take place or how much current is available.
What it means
A schedule in the Easee App, the vehicle or another connected service is currently controlling the session.
What to do
Check all active charging schedules. Adjust the schedule you want to use and avoid overlapping schedules in different services.
Heat protectionAn elevated temperature is reducing charging current.
What it means
The charger has detected a temperature condition that requires the current to be reduced.
What to do
If the reduction continues, follow the high-temperature troubleshooting guide.
After changing a setting or waiting for a temporary limit to clear, return to Available energy. If no unexpected limit remains but charging is still slow, continue to 04.
04If no unexpected Easee limit is active
The charger may be making the expected current available while the vehicle, cable or installation sets the actual charging speed.
