Plan an Easee installation

Plan the site, circuits and charging capacity before installation, configuration and handover.

Decide the installation structure and available charging capacity before mounting chargers. Use the exact product guide and applicable regulations for design and installation.

01Plan the charging installation

Represent the installation as a site containing charging circuits, with each charger assigned to its circuit.

A site groups the charging installation at a location. Each circuit identifies chargers sharing the same circuit protection. This structure must match the physical installation.

  • Confirm the charging points needed now and later, and the expected simultaneous use.
  • For an extension, identify the existing charger models and circuit layout.

Product compatibility determines which chargers can share a circuit. Available capacity determines how much charging current can be allocated to them.

02Choose chargers and plan the circuits

Choose a model available in your market that meets the charging and metering requirements. Then check circuit compatibility.

SDU means Single Dwelling Unit; MDU means Multi Dwelling Unit. Easee uses these terms for site types and product groups. Site type describes the site's organisation; charger model determines compatibility. Selecting a site type in the Installer App does not change charger compatibility.

Charge Max and Charge Pro include MID-certified metering. Confirm whether this meets the metering requirements for the installation.

Product groups and circuit limits
Product group Models Maximum chargers per circuit Maximum circuit breaker
SDU Charge Up, Charge Max, Easee One (market-specific) 3, including the primary charger 40 A
MDU Charge Core, Charge Pro 101, including the primary charger 80 A

Use one product group per circuit. The primary charger coordinates charging on that circuit. These are technical maximums, not recommended charger counts or a guarantee of simultaneous charging. Circuit-breaker selection must also meet the protection requirements in the exact product guide.

For an extension or a larger site, check compatibility and the supported site layout before specifying additional chargers.

03Plan capacity and load balancing

Establish the capacity available to the planned charging circuits from the verified site design.

Allocate charging capacity with the available phases and other building loads in mind. Decide whether this allocation can remain fixed or needs to adapt to building consumption.

Between chargers on one circuit

Compatible chargers distribute the circuit's configured charging capacity between them. This does not, by itself, account for changing consumption elsewhere in the building.

Dynamic load balancing against building capacity

An Easee Equalizer provides consumption measurements so charging can adapt to the building's available capacity. Where needed, plan the compatible measurement solution and communication path.

For multiple circuits

Choose a supported local or cloud solution for sharing charging capacity across circuits. Check its measurement and connectivity requirements before specifying the installation.

Planning future expansion?

Include future demand in the capacity and cable design. Easee Ready backplates and blind covers are an option for preparing future charging points; check compatibility with the selected products.

04Prepare installation and configuration

Use the agreed structure and capacity limits to prepare installation and configuration in the Installer App.

Install from the exact product guide

Use the selected model and variant's guide to confirm grid compatibility, conductor and protection requirements before completing the design, then follow it for physical installation.

Information to prepare

  • Site type, required site details and charger-to-circuit assignments; existing site details for an extension.
  • Main fuse, circuit fuse values and charging limits from the verified design.
  • Operator details where relevant and network information for the chosen solution, including Wi-Fi credentials if used.
  • The intended Site Owner and agreed management method.

Plan the supported configuration method before fitting the Chargeberry (electronics module): NFC programs the backplate first; Bluetooth uses the fitted, powered charger.

Configure the site in the Installer App

05Complete the customer handover

Before handover, check that the installed site matches the design and the customer can use the agreed service.

  • Technical completion: installation checks and configuration are complete, the circuit structure matches the design and the completed site is uploaded to Easee Cloud.
  • Records: the owner has the installation documentation and charger serial numbers and PINs in an agreed secure location.
  • Ownership: the intended Site Owner has accepted the transfer and can access the site.
  • Customer readiness: the customer can use the agreed charging and management service.

Ready for the customer

The installation is configured and documented, and the customer can use the agreed service.
