Charging fails to start or stops unexpectedly
Start with what you can see at the vehicle and in the Easee App. This guide takes you from the first check to the right next step.
When charging does not start or stops unexpectedly, begin with the cable and vehicle. Then use the status in the Easee App to follow one matching route from cause to resolution. If the App shows an error or the charger is red, skip to the dedicated error route.
01Start with the cable and vehicle
These checks rule out the most common reasons a session cannot begin or continue.
Check the connection
Push the cable fully into the charger and the vehicle. Check the plugs and visible cable surface for damage. Do not use damaged equipment.
Check the vehicle
Confirm that the battery is not already at its target. Check the vehicle’s charging limit and timer.
Try the session once
Reconnect the cable at the vehicle. If charging begins, watch the session long enough to confirm that it continues.
Charging does not start
Open the charger in the Easee App and use the status shown now.
Charging starts, then stops
Open the Easee App immediately after the stop and use the new status or exact error shown there.
You are done. If it does not start or stops again, continue to the Easee App below.
02Read what the Easee App shows
The current status tells you what the session is waiting for. Do not start changing several settings at once.
The App cannot reach the charger
If you are near the charger, connect locally to read its current status. If the charger is offline, use the offline guide instead.
Continue below and open only the route whose title exactly matches the status in the App.
03Follow the matching status
Each route follows the same order: what to do, what should happen, and where to go if it does not.
Waiting for authorizationThe charger needs an approved user before the session can continue.
Do this
- Authorise the session in the Easee App or with an Easee Key linked to your account.
- If you cannot authorise, confirm that your account has access to this charger.
The status changes and the charger continues with the session.
If it does not Review charging access and user roles. If your access is correct, contact Easee Support below.
Waiting for scheduleA schedule or connected charging service is delaying the start.
Do this
- Check schedules in the vehicle, the Easee App and any connected energy or smart-home service.
- Wait for the scheduled time or adjust the schedule you want to use.
- If that time has passed, disconnect and reconnect the cable at the vehicle.
Charging starts when the active schedule allows it and the vehicle requests power.
If it does not Review Schedule & Smart Charge to identify which schedule controls the session.
Ready to chargeThe charger is available, but the vehicle is not drawing current.
Do this
- Check the vehicle’s charge limit, timer and battery status.
- Disconnect and reconnect the cable at the vehicle.
- If possible, test another compatible charging cable.
The status changes to Charging when the vehicle requests current and the site can supply it.
If it does not If the same vehicle and cable also fail at another charger, contact the vehicle or cable supplier. If they work elsewhere, contact Easee Support below.
Waiting for the carThe charger is waiting for the vehicle to request charging.
Do this
- Check the vehicle’s charging timer, charge limit and battery status.
- Disconnect the cable at the vehicle, wait a few seconds and reconnect it firmly.
- If available, test another compatible cable.
The vehicle requests current and the status changes to Charging.
If it does not If the same vehicle and cable also fail at another charger, contact the vehicle or cable supplier. If they work elsewhere, contact Easee Support below.
CompleteThe vehicle has ended the session and is no longer requesting current.
Do this
- Check the battery level and charge limit shown by the vehicle.
- Check whether a timer or battery-protection setting ended the session.
- After changing a setting, disconnect and reconnect the cable at the vehicle.
A new session starts when the vehicle requests current again.
If it does not Test another compatible cable if possible. If Complete still appears unexpectedly, contact Easee Support below.
No car connectedThe charger does not detect a connection to the vehicle.
Do this
- Remove and reconnect the cable firmly at both ends.
- Check the plugs and visible cable surface for damage. Do not use damaged equipment.
- If possible, test another compatible cable.
The status changes as soon as the charger detects the vehicle.
If it does not Do not force a connector that is locked or cannot be removed normally. Contact Easee Support below.
PausedA control, schedule or the available site capacity is holding the session.
Do this
- Select Start once in the Easee App.
- If it pauses again, check active schedules and services connected to the charger.
- If an Equalizer manages the site, check whether household consumption is limiting the available capacity.
Charging resumes when no control or site limit is keeping the session paused.
If it does not If an Equalizer controls the site, follow the Equalizer session guide. Otherwise, contact Easee Support below.
04Use the right route for another symptom
An error, red light or slow session needs a different diagnostic path.
App error or red light
Note the exact App message or light pattern. Do not open the charger or change the electrical installation.
Charging is slower than expected
A slow session has different causes from a session that does not start or stops.
