Easee Keys (RFID): add keys and view consumption

  • Updated

Choose and manage Easee Keys

Choose the right key for access and consumption reporting.

01

Choose the right key

Choose a key based on where it must work, whether offline access is required and whether charging sessions must remain linked to a user.

Account key

Linked to an Easee account. Charging sessions can be assigned to the account holder and included in reports filtered by key or user. Requires cloud authorisation.

Site key

Linked to one charging site and available on all chargers at that site. Provides shared access without linking the key to a personal account. Requires cloud authorisation.

Imported account key

An existing account key imported to a specific charger. It works while the charger is offline, remains linked to the account and stays available in reports filtered by key. Add and manage the key in the Easee App over Bluetooth.

Local key

Created on one charger without an account link. It works while the charger is offline. Its sessions remain part of total consumption but cannot be filtered by key. Local keys cannot be removed individually.

02

Add an Easee Key

Use the Easee App to add any key type. Easee Control can add account keys only. To add an imported or local key, connect to the charger over Bluetooth.

Add an imported or local key in the Easee App over Bluetooth

Before you start

Imported and local keys are stored on one charger. Add or manage them only in the Easee App while your phone is connected directly to that charger over Bluetooth. Enable Bluetooth and remain close to the charger.

Imported account key

Offline with an account link

Import an existing account key to the charger. The key remains linked to the account, works while the charger is offline and remains available in reports filtered by key. You can manage it individually.

Local key

Offline without an account link

Create a key stored only on this charger. The key works while the charger is offline. Its sessions do not appear in reports filtered by key, and the key cannot be removed individually.

  1. 01Open the Easee App, then select Keys from the app menu.
  2. 02Select Local, then select the charger on which the key should work.
  3. 03Allow the app to connect to the charger over Bluetooth. Keep your phone close until the connection is complete.
  4. 04To keep the key linked to the account, select Import account keys. To create a local key, scan a tag or enter its key number.

Scan with phone

Scan an RFID or NFC tag with your phone. Enter a name, then select Add.

Enter the key number manually

Enter the identifier printed on the key. Enter a name, then select Add.

Offline-only operation

If the charger must use local authorisation only, disconnect it from the site in Easee Control. Only do this for an installation that is intentionally operated without cloud authorisation.

03

View and export consumption

Choose the report based on who needs the data and how the key is assigned.

Compare reporting options
  • Account key

Charging sessions can be assigned to the account holder and included in reports filtered by key or user.

  • Site key

Charging sessions can appear in charger and key views. User-based reporting is limited because the key is not linked to a personal account.

  • Imported account key

Charging sessions remain linked to the account and can be included in reports filtered by key or user. The key also works offline on the selected charger.

  • Local key

Charging sessions are included in the charger's total consumption. They do not appear in user or key views and are excluded when the report is filtered by key.

Where to view consumption

Use the Easee App to view your own sessions. Use Easee Control for site-level reports if your role has access.

Personal consumption: Easee App

If your Easee Key is linked to your Easee account, you can view and export the charging sessions assigned to that key in the Easee App.

Consumption reports in detail

04

Remove an Easee Key

Export any required consumption data before deleting a key or removing it from a charger.

  • Before deleting a key

Export any required consumption data as CSV or PDF. Deleting a key is permanent and may remove its link to a user in reports.

  • Account, site and imported keys

Delete account and site keys in the Easee App or Easee Control. Remove an imported key individually in the Easee App while connected to the charger over Bluetooth.

  • Local keys

Connect to the charger over Bluetooth in the Easee App. Local keys cannot be removed individually. Remove all local keys from the charger, then add back the keys that should retain access.

05

Supported cards and tags

The key must present the same identifier each time it is used at the charger.

RFID and NFC tags

Recommended

Use an Easee Key or another RFID or NFC tag with a fixed identifier. These are the most reliable options.

Bank cards

Usually not suitable

Contactless bank cards usually use changing dynamic tokens. A bank card works only if it presents the same permanent identifier each time. It is used only for identification, never for payment.

Smartphones

Usually not suitable

Apple and Android phones usually use changing dynamic tokens. A phone works only if it presents the same permanent identifier each time.

Supported technologiesNFC / ISO 14443 · MIFARE Classic · 13.56 MHz
