Several factors can affect charging, including the vehicle, charging settings and external systems. The charging status and messages in the Easee App can help you identify possible causes and find the relevant checks.

Check the Easee App

Where to look
The charging status is shown near the top of the charger screen. The layout may look different depending on your App version.
  1. Open your charger in the App.
  2. Check the status and any messages shown.
  3. Note the approximate time. Take a screenshot if useful.

What do you see in the Easee App?

Select the option that matches your charger.

Charging delayed, paused or slower than expected?

Check active charging limits

Follow the App guidance

Check any warning or error shown in the App and follow the instructions provided.

Other warnings or errors Help with access, schedules or unclear messages.
Look up the App message

For charging access or schedules you cannot change, contact the Site Owner or Administrator.

If the message remains unclear or keeps appearing, note the approximate time. See what to send Support in section 04

Check the charging status

Select the status shown in the Easee App to see what to check.

Waiting for authorization

The charger is waiting for authorisation before charging can start.

Authorise using the Easee App, an authorised Easee Key or the method provided by your charging operator.

If authorisation doesn't work:

  • Your own charger: Check the charging access settings in the Easee App and make sure your account or Easee Key is authorised.
  • Shared or managed charger: Check that you're using the correct account or key. At operator-managed sites, authorisation may need to be completed through the operator's app or charging service. If authorisation is rejected, contact the Site Owner, an Administrator or your charging operator to check your charging permissions.

Waiting for schedule / Paused

Charging is waiting for a scheduled start or is paused.

Check whether a charging schedule or pause is active.

Waiting for schedule: Check the planned start time in the Easee App, the vehicle’s timer and any connected charging service.

Paused: Check whether a schedule or connected charging service has paused charging. Check schedules and charging services

Charging limits: Check the active charging limits using the lightning bolt icon in the Easee App. A schedule, load management system or external charging service may be restricting the available charging current. If the App highlights a limit, check the highlighted charging limit.

Equalizer: Use the Equalizer guide only when Available energy highlights Equalizer limit.

Ready to charge / Waiting for the car

The charger is ready to supply power, but the vehicle hasn't started charging.

Check the vehicle's charging schedule, selected charge limit and battery level. Make sure the vehicle is ready to accept a charge.

If charging still doesn't start, check the vehicle's display or app for messages that might explain why it's not requesting power.

Complete / Completed

The vehicle has reported that charging is complete and is no longer requesting power.

This doesn't necessarily mean the battery is at 100%. Check the current battery level and selected charge limit in your vehicle.

If charging ended earlier than expected, check for any messages in the vehicle's display or app. Note the battery level and approximate stopping time if further investigation is needed.

No car connected

The charger doesn't detect a connected vehicle.

Make sure the charging cable is securely connected at both ends. If the issue persists, try another compatible charging cable.

Other checks

Check active charging limits

Check whether a schedule, cable limit, load management system or connected charging service is affecting charging.

Tap the lightning bolt icon in the Easee App to see which charging limits are currently active.

Depending on your setup, you may see:

  • Dynamic limit for Charger: The available charging current may be adjusted by load management, a smart charging service or another external system.
  • Cable limit: The maximum charging current is restricted by the charging cable's current rating.
  • Schedule limit: A charging schedule may be restricting or pausing charging.

For guidance on the limit shown, check the highlighted charging limit.

If Available energy highlights an Equalizer limit, see the Equalizer guide.

For site-controlled settings you cannot change, contact the Site Owner or an Administrator.

Can't use the Easee App?

You can still carry out a few basic checks without using the Easee App.

Need access to your charger or site?

If your charger isn't available in the Easee App or you don't have access to it, see how to get access.

Get access to your charger or site

Check the charger's LED lights

Look at the LED lights on your charger. Their colour and behaviour may help indicate what's happening.

Check LED colours and patterns

If the lights stay red or you hear warning sounds, stop using the charger and follow the safety guidance in section 02.

Check your vehicle and charging cable

Make sure the charging cable is securely connected at both ends.

Check whether a charging schedule or charge limit is active in your vehicle. If charging doesn't start, try another compatible charging cable.

Still having trouble?

Note the approximate time of the problem and what you observed, including the charger's LED behaviour.

Still need help?

Contact Easee Technical Support and include:

  • Charger serial number
  • Vehicle make and model
  • Date and approximate time of the affected session, even if the status or message is no longer visible.
  • Brief description of what happened
  • Troubleshooting steps you've already tried (if any)
Further investigation

For a more detailed investigation, Easee Technical Support may ask you to leave your vehicle connected to the charger for a few hours.

During this period, avoid changing any charging settings and note the date and time you connected the vehicle. Easee Technical Support can then review the recorded data to investigate possible causes.
