Charging fails to start or stops unexpectedly

Use the status in the Easee App and what you can observe at the charger to find the right next step.

Check the status in the Easee App

The status shown when charging fails is the shortest route to the cause.

Before opening a status

  1. Push the cable fully into the charger and the vehicle.
  2. Check that the vehicle has no active charging limit or timer.
  3. Open the charger in the Easee App and select the matching status below.

Can’t reach the charger in the App? If you are near it, try connecting with Bluetooth. If it is offline, follow the offline troubleshooting guide.

Waiting for authorization

What it means

The charger requires an approved user before charging can start.

What to do

  1. Authorize the session in the Easee App or with an Easee Key linked to your account.
  2. If you cannot authorize, confirm that you have access to this charger.

Expected result: The status changes and charging can continue.

If it does not: See Access, user roles and charging permissions.

Waiting for schedule

What it means

A schedule or smart-charging service is delaying the start.

What to do

  1. Check charging schedules in the vehicle, the Easee App and any connected energy or smart-home service.
  2. Either wait for the scheduled time or adjust the schedule you want to use.
  3. If the scheduled time has passed, disconnect and reconnect the cable at the vehicle to wake it.

Expected result: The status changes when the schedule allows charging and the vehicle requests power.

If it does not: Review Schedule & Smart Charge, then match the new App status to another route below.

Ready to charge

What it means

The charger is available for a charging session. The vehicle is not drawing current yet. Vehicle settings, site controls and safety conditions can still affect whether charging starts.

What to do

  1. Check the vehicle’s charge limit, timer and battery status.
  2. Disconnect and reconnect the cable at the vehicle.
  3. If possible, test with another compatible charging cable.

Expected result: The status changes to Charging when the vehicle requests current and the site can supply it.

If it does not: Check the App again for a changed status or error. If it remains Ready to charge, follow Why is my vehicle not charging?.

Waiting for the car

What it means

The charger is waiting for the vehicle to request charging.

What to do

  1. Check the vehicle’s charging timer, charge limit and battery status.
  2. Disconnect the cable at the vehicle, wait a few seconds and reconnect it firmly.
  3. If available, test another compatible cable.

Expected result: The vehicle requests current and the status changes to Charging.

If it does not: If the same vehicle and cable also fail elsewhere, contact the vehicle or cable supplier. If they work elsewhere, contact Easee Support.

Complete

What it means

The vehicle is no longer requesting current. This often happens because its target charge level has been reached.

What to do

  1. Check the battery level and charge limit shown by the vehicle.
  2. Check whether the vehicle has ended the session because of a timer or battery-protection setting.
  3. After correcting a setting, disconnect and reconnect the cable at the vehicle.

Expected result: A new session starts when the vehicle requests current again.

If it does not: Test another compatible cable if possible. If the status remains incorrect, contact Easee Support.

No car connected

What it means

The charger does not detect a vehicle connection.

What to do

  1. Remove and reconnect the cable firmly at both ends.
  2. Check the plugs and visible cable surface for damage. Do not use damaged equipment.
  3. If possible, try another compatible cable.

Expected result: The status changes as soon as the charger detects the vehicle.

If it does not: If the connector is locked or cannot be removed normally, do not force it. Contact Easee Support.

Easee App showing No car connected
Paused

What it means

The session is paused. This can result from a manual action, an active schedule, a connected service or available site capacity.

What to do

  1. Press Start once in the Easee App.
  2. If it pauses again, check active schedules and services connected to the charger.
  3. If an Equalizer manages the site, check whether household consumption is currently limiting the available capacity.

Expected result: Charging resumes when no control or site limit is keeping the session paused.

If it does not: If an Equalizer is installed, follow the Equalizer session guide. Otherwise, contact Easee Support.

Charging starts, then stops

The status shown immediately after the stop is the most useful clue.

Check the App as soon as charging stops

  1. Note the current status or exact error.
  2. Return to Check the status in the Easee App and follow that route.
  3. Check whether the vehicle ended the session at its charge limit or scheduled time.

Expected result: The status identifies what is preventing the session from continuing.

If an Equalizer manages the site, charging may pause when the building needs the available capacity. If this matches what you observe, follow the Equalizer session guide.

Use the matching guide for another symptom

An error, red light or slow session needs a different diagnostic route.

App error or red light

Note the exact App message or light pattern before taking further action. Do not open the charger or change the electrical installation.

Find the App error message or identify the light-strip signal.

Charging is slower than expected

Charging speed has different causes from a session that does not start. Use the charging speed guide.

Still not charging?

Contact Easee Support if the matching route above does not resolve the issue.

Include the App status or error and the exact time the session failed. This lets Support find the relevant event without asking you to repeat the same checks.
