No light on the Easee charger

Check whether the charger is working and find the right next step.

A dark light strip does not necessarily mean the charger has lost power. Start with charging if you can test it. Then check the app or the charger’s response before considering the electrical supply.

01Does charging work?

If a vehicle is available, connect it as you normally would. The result tells you whether this is only a dark display or whether charging needs attention too.

Yes, charging worksThe charger is operating even though the strip is dark.

Check the charger in the Easee App. If it is online, open Charger settings and check the LED brightness. A deactivated charger would not charge, so that setting does not explain a dark strip while charging works.

Check charger settings

If the charger is active and its settings do not explain the missing light, contact Easee Technical Support. You can continue charging if it works normally and there is no fault or warning.

If the app shows the charger as offline, its online connection is a separate issue. Charging can work without remote access. In the offline guide, continue at “Check the connection”.

Restore the online connection
No, charging does not start or has stoppedCheck the current charging status before changing network settings.

If the charger appears in the Easee App, check its current status and any warning. When it is offline, local Bluetooth access may let you read the status. The charging-status guide takes you to the action for that result.

Check why charging does not start or has stopped

If you cannot get a status and the strip remains dark, continue with the response check below.

I cannot test chargingUse the Easee App and the response check instead.

Check whether the charger is online in the Easee App. If you do not have access to a shared or managed charger, ask the site owner, administrator or charging operator to check its status. A missing charger in your app may be an access issue; it does not establish a power fault.

If the charger is online, check its activation and LED brightness in Charger settings. If it is offline or you cannot establish its status, continue with the response check below.

Check whether the charger responds

02Does the charger respond?

Use this check if the strip is still dark and charging cannot be confirmed. A response helps you avoid treating a dark strip as proof of lost power.

Press and hold the touch button above the strip for at least five seconds. Listen for a tone and look for a light response. This also disconnects other devices using the charger’s Bluetooth connection.

A tone or light appearsThe charger responds; the result does not confirm that charging works.

If the app shows the charger online, check its activation and LED brightness. If it is offline, check the charging status locally with Bluetooth when you have access to the charger. If charging works but only the online status remains, follow the offline guide.

Check an offline charger

If a red or unusual light now appears, use the LED guide for that pattern.

No tone and no lightCheck the protective device and what happened before the strip went dark.

No response does not by itself prove that power is lost. Continue with the power checks below. Do not begin Wi-Fi or LTE-M recovery yet.

Check the electrical supply safely

03Check the power-related conditions

Only someone authorised to access the charger’s electrical supply should make these checks. At a shared or managed site, ask the site owner or operator to arrange them.

A circuit breaker or RCD has trippedLeave it off and have the installation checked.

Do not repeatedly reset or bypass a tripped protective device. Contact your installer. At a managed site, contact the site owner or operator.

Stop here; network troubleshooting will not resolve this condition.

The charger lost power while idleUse this route only if a power loss is known.

Follow the power-loss guidance before anyone restores power. If another charger on the same circuit was in use, do not turn the power back on; tell the site owner.

Follow the idle-charger power-loss checks
The strip went dark during chargingOne controlled recovery, only when charging has stopped.

Continue only if you can identify the charger’s circuit breaker, are authorised to operate it, charging is no longer active and no protective device has tripped.

  1. Switch off the charger’s circuit breaker.
  2. Disconnect the cable from the car and charger if it releases normally. If it is locked or cannot be removed safely, leave the power off, do not force it and contact Technical Support.
  3. Leave the charger without power for at least 60 minutes, then restore power once.
  4. Check the light strip. If a breaker or RCD trips, leave it off and contact your installer or site operator. If the strip stays dark, hold the touch button for at least five seconds and check for a tone or light.

If the charger responds and charging works, check its online status. Use the offline guide only if the remaining problem is remote access. If it remains dark and unresponsive, switch the breaker off again and contact Technical Support.

I do not know when it went darkA restart is not the first step when the cause is unknown.

If the strip stays dark and the charger does not respond, contact Technical Support before trying a restart. Tell them whether charging was in progress the last time you saw the charger working.

04When to contact Technical Support

If a route above ends with Technical Support, send the outcome of the checks you could safely complete.

Include the charger serial number, whether charging works, the app status or warning, whether the charger made a tone, and what happened before the strip went dark. If you switched off the circuit breaker, say when and for how long.
