Easee charger offline – check charging and restore Wi-Fi or LTE-M

Charger offline in the Easee App?

Check whether charging still works, then restore the online connection.

Offline means the Easee App cannot currently reach your charger remotely. Charging may still work. Start with charging to find out whether you need to restore the connection or check a separate problem first.

Can you still charge your car?

Use what you already know, or try your usual charging method. Do not test damaged equipment, a charger showing a fault warning or an installation with a tripped protective device; use the checks under “No” instead.

Restore the online connection

Check for a known Easee service issue before changing local settings. A separate charging or power problem still needs its own check.

Check Easee service status

A matching connectivity incident may explain the offline status. Wait for the service update before changing connection settings. After it is resolved, check the charger in the app; continue below only if it is still offline.

No relevant incident? Use the connection you want

Choose Wi-Fi when a suitable network reaches the charger, or use its built-in mobile connection. LTE-M does not require Bluetooth or a Wi-Fi setup first.

Connect locally with Bluetooth

Local access lets you read the charging status or change Wi-Fi while the charger is offline. Stand near the charger, turn on Bluetooth on your phone and allow the Easee App to use it. Use an account that already has access to the charger.

  1. Press and hold the touch button above the light strip for at least five seconds. This also disconnects other devices using the charger’s Bluetooth connection.
  2. Open the charger in the Easee App. In Charger settings, select Connect via Bluetooth and complete the pairing prompts.
  3. Check that Bluetooth appears on the charger card. This confirms local access, not an online connection.
Bluetooth will not connect or the option is missingCheck the available connection methods and pairing requirements.

A charger missing from your account or unavailable settings may require help from the site owner or operator. Ask them to check access and make any permitted changes.

Still unable to connect?

When charging also fails, contact Technical Support with the charger serial number, light pattern and what happened when you held the touch button. A dark strip needs the no-lights guide in 01 first.

Charging works but Bluetooth is unavailable? Use the LTE-M guide above to restore remote access, or contact Technical Support if you need Wi-Fi and the Bluetooth checks have not helped.

Reconnect or change Wi-Fi

With local access established, you can update the charger’s saved network. Changing Wi-Fi in the Easee App requires Site Owner access. At a managed site, ask the person responsible for the installation to update the network.

Have the network name and password ready. The network must be password-protected, use 2.4 GHz and reach the charger.

  1. With Bluetooth connected, open Charger settings and select WiFi under General.
  2. Use Search to choose your network, or Add manually to enter its full name. Enter the password and select Confirm.
  3. Temporarily turn off Bluetooth on your phone, make sure the phone has internet access and return to the charger in the app. Check its connection type. Turn Bluetooth back on afterwards if you need local access again.

The Wi-Fi guide includes the screenshots, password restrictions and full network requirements.

WiFi or LTE-M is shown: the charger is online

WiFi confirms the Wi-Fi connection. LTE-M means the mobile connection is working instead; you can stop if that meets your needs. Bluetooth alone does not confirm remote access.

Wi-Fi still not connected, or repeatedly dropping? Continue with 03. Do not enter the same details again unless they need correcting.

Wi-Fi still will not connect?

Use these checks only when updating the saved network did not help or the Wi-Fi connection keeps dropping.

Check the network and try one restart if neededCompare another network when available. A working connection needs no restart.
  1. Check that the router is on, has internet access and that the intended Wi-Fi network reaches the charger.
  2. Recheck the saved name and password against the Wi-Fi guide’s requirements. Ask the person managing the network to help if necessary.

Try another compatible network, when available

A password-protected 2.4 GHz mobile hotspot with internet access can be used for comparison. Connect using the Wi-Fi steps above and check that WiFi is shown, not just LTE-M.

Wi-Fi works on the test network: the usual network, its configuration or its signal at the charger is the likely cause. Ask the person managing it to investigate, then reconnect to your usual network. No charger restart is needed while the connection works.

Online through LTE-M instead: remote access is restored, but the Wi-Fi test has not been confirmed. Stop if LTE-M meets your needs.

The problem remains, or no comparison network is available: use the single restart below.

Before the Wi-Fi restart

Stop charging. Operate the charger’s circuit breaker only if you can identify it, are authorised to use it and it has not tripped. Otherwise, ask the site owner or operator to arrange the restart.

Leave a tripped breaker or RCD off and contact your installer. Do the same if it trips when power is restored. Do not force a locked cable or open the charger.

Switch the charger’s circuit breaker off for 10 seconds, then switch it back on and allow the charger to start. Skip this restart if it has already been off for at least 10 seconds during the current problem.

Check that the Easee App shows WiFi or LTE-M, not just Bluetooth. An online, stable connection needs no further action. Do not repeat the restart.

Still offline, or Wi-Fi keeps dropping?

Contact Technical Support after the applicable checks and single restart. Include the charger serial number, whether charging works, any error shown and the results of your checks. Add the comparison-test result if one was available.
