Car not charging or charging stops

Use the status in the Easee App to find the right next check.

For: Easee App users

If charging does not start or stops earlier than expected, connect the car and open the charger in the Easee App. Use the status shown there to find the most useful next check below. If charging stopped, note the status shown immediately afterwards.

01 Find the charging status

Open the Easee App, choose the site and select the affected charger. With the car connected, read the status shown near the top of the charger view. Keep this view open during the attempt, then choose the matching status in Section 02. The wording may vary slightly between App versions.

The charging status appears near the top of the charger view. This example shows “Waiting for schedule” in the older Classic view. Your App may look different.
Cannot see a current charging status?

Charger missing from the App?

Ask the site owner or operator how to get access and which charging method to use. App access and permission to charge are separate.

Get access to the charger

Charger shown as offline?

An offline charger may still charge, but the status shown through Easee Cloud may not be current. The offline guide explains how to check the connection and use nearby Bluetooth access where available.

Check an offline charger

No lights on the charger?

Use the dedicated guide to check whether the charger responds and whether its light strip has been deactivated.

Check a charger with no lights

Damaged cable or connector?

Do not use visibly damaged equipment, force a locked plug, open the charger or change the electrical installation. If you see a red light or an App error instead, follow the matching guidance before trying again.

02 What does the status mean?

Use the status shown during the attempt or immediately after it stops. Each status describes the current condition; it does not confirm the underlying cause on its own.

Status shown What it means and what to check
Waiting for authorization

The charger is waiting for authorisation. Use the method provided for this charger: an Easee Key, the Easee App or the operator’s app. If it is not accepted, ask the site owner or operator to check your charging permission.

Check charging access
Waiting for schedule

Charging is waiting for a schedule or connected charging service. Check the planned start time. A separate timer in the car can also delay charging.

Check schedules and charging services
Ready to charge

The charger is ready, but the car is not drawing power. Check the car’s battery level, selected charge limit and timer. The status alone does not show why.

Waiting for the car

The charger is waiting for the car to request charging. Check the car’s timer and selected charge limit. This condition does not confirm a fault with the car or charger.

Complete / Completed

The car has reported charging as complete and is no longer requesting power. This does not necessarily mean the battery is full. Check the battery level and selected charge limit; record a stop below that limit.

No car connected

The charger does not detect a connected vehicle. With an undamaged cable, check that both plugs are fully inserted.

Paused

Charging is paused, but the status does not identify why. Check your schedule or connected charging service. External control and load management can also pause charging. Follow the Equalizer guide only if Available energy highlights Equalizer limit.

Check an active Equalizer limit

Charging is running

Power or current shown during an active session means charging has started. If it continues as expected, you can stop here.

Charging continues but is slower than expected? Check the available current and any active limit. Check slow charging or an active limit

03 What happened during the attempt?

Continue here only when the matching status did not resolve the failed start or early stop.

Charging never starts

Unlock and reconnect an undamaged cable at the car once, then make one fresh charging attempt. If nothing changes, note the time and the status shown in the App.

Charging starts, then stops early

Record the start and stop times, the battery level and selected charge limit, and the status or error shown immediately after the stop. You do not need to reproduce it solely to collect evidence.

04 Still not charging?

Contact Easee Technical Support when the relevant status path and the follow-up check above have not resolved the problem. Send the details from the attempt:

  • The date and local time, plus start and stop times if charging was interrupted.
  • Whether charging never started or stopped early, and the exact status or error shown. Include a screenshot if you have one.
  • The charger serial number, vehicle make and model, and the checks you have already tried. For an early stop, add the battery level and selected charge limit.

Send the available details; you do not need to identify the cause yourself.
