What the charger light strip means
Compare the light on your charger to find out what the status means and what to do next.
The light strip shows the current status of your charger. Colour, movement and LED position together determine what the indication means.
Look at the light strip and choose the pattern below that best matches what you see.
01Find your light pattern
Match the colour, movement and LED position shown on your charger.
How to read the LED examples
The examples are shown horizontally. The left side represents the bottom of the charger’s vertical light strip.
02Meaning and next steps

White or blue light
Normal operation or a request for authentication.
One or two white LEDs are onSolid white · bottom of the strip
The charger is in standby and ready. Two white LEDs identify the primary charger (Master); one white LED identifies a secondary charger (Secondary Unit).
No action is required
This is the normal standby state. The light strip changes when a vehicle is connected.
The full strip is solid white or blueVehicle connected · not currently charging
The charger has detected the vehicle. White indicates normal charging mode; blue indicates that Smart Charging is enabled.
If charging is not expected yet
No action is required. A schedule, load control or the vehicle may be delaying the start.
Check the Easee App for the current status. If the reason is still unclear, continue with the charging checks.
Open the charging checksThe full strip pulses white or blueCharging in progress
The vehicle is charging. White indicates normal charging mode; blue indicates that Smart Charging is enabled.
Charging is working
No action is required while the vehicle continues to draw power.
The full strip flashes whiteWaiting for authentication
The vehicle is connected, but charging must be authorised before it can start.
Authorise the charging session
Hold an Easee Key or compatible RFID tag against the RFID area, or authorise charging in the Easee App with an account that has access.
Check access and authenticationThe strip changes to solid or pulsing white or blue after successful authentication.
The full strip flashes white rapidlyKey or RFID tag is being verified
The charger has detected the Easee Key or RFID tag and is checking whether it is authorised.
Wait for verification
Move the key or tag away from the charger while it completes the check.
The strip changes to solid or pulsing white or blue when the key is accepted. If it flashes red immediately afterwards, use the authentication-failed pattern below.

The timing matters: after authentication or at another time.
The full strip flashes red after a key or App attemptAuthentication was not accepted
Use this path only when the red flashing started immediately after presenting a key or attempting to authorise through the Easee App.
Check the key or RFID tag
Make sure it uses a fixed identifier and has been added to the correct account, site or charger.
Check the Easee KeyCheck the Easee account
Sign in with the correct account and confirm that it has access. At a shared site, ask the Site Owner, Administrator or operator.
Check permissionsTry again
Present the approved key steadily against the RFID area or authorise through the Easee App.
The red flashing stops and the strip changes to solid or pulsing white or blue.
At a managed site, contact the site operator first. Otherwise, continue to the Support section and have the key ID, charger serial number and App error ready.
Continue to SupportThe full strip flashes red at another timeCharging stopped or no authentication was attempted
Do not treat this as an authentication failure when no key or App authorisation was attempted. Flashing red can also indicate that charging stopped for a safety-related reason, including high temperature.
Check the Easee App before restarting
Open the charger and note the exact warning or error. If the App reports high temperature, stop using the charger and follow the high-temperature support path.
Open the high-temperature guidanceDo not repeatedly restart the charger. Continue to Support with a short video, the charger serial number and when the flashing started.
Continue to SupportThe full strip is solid redSafety lockout
The charger has detected an error and is locked for safety.
Disconnect the cable from the vehicle
Stop the charging session first. Do not force a locked connector.
Disconnect the cable from the charger
Continue only when the cable can be removed normally.
Restart the charger once
Switch the charger circuit breaker off and back on, then allow the charger to restart.
Do not repeatedly reset a tripped breaker or RCD
If the protective device has tripped or trips again, leave it off and contact an authorised electrician.
The red light clears and the charger returns to a normal white or blue status.

Only the first LED flashes
The first LED is at the bottom of the vertical strip.
The first LED flashes whiteSecondary charger cannot find the primary charger
A secondary charger (Secondary Unit) has lost its local Easee Link connection to the primary charger (Master).
Check the primary charger
Confirm that it has power and shows a normal light-strip status.
Restart in the correct order
Only if you are authorised to restart the circuit, restart the primary charger first and the affected secondary charger afterwards. At a managed site, ask the Administrator or installer.
The first LED stops flashing. In standby, one solid white LED identifies a secondary charger and two identify the primary charger.
Check the communication guide first. If the first LED still flashes after both restarts, continue to Support with the charger serial number or site key.

The charger can show temporary patterns while updating, pairing keys or running a self-test. Check the Easee App for a status or error before switching off power.
Record the pattern if it does not clear
Take a short video of the entire light strip because movement matters. Note when it started and whether charging is available.
Continue to Support with the video, charger serial number and any App error message.
