Start using your Easee charger
Test charging first, then set up only the access and functions you need.
When you are new to an Easee charger, do not begin by changing every setting. Test one charging session first. The result shows whether the basic setup works, access must be set up or charging needs troubleshooting.
Choose your starting point
Private home charger
You can usually test charging before creating an account or changing settings.
Start the charging testShared or managed installation
The Site Owner, Administrator or operator decides how users authenticate and which app or key to use.
Open the access guide01Test charging before changing settings
An Easee charger with Open access can usually start charging without an Easee account or the Easee App.
Connect the vehicle
Connect the cable securely to the charger and the vehicle.
Check the vehicle
Make sure the vehicle is ready to charge and that its own schedule is not delaying the session.
Check whether charging starts
If charging starts, the basic connection between the charger and vehicle is working. You do not need to create an Easee schedule.
| What happens? | What it means | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Charging starts | The basic charging setup works. App access is optional unless you need authentication, charger controls or consumption data. | Set up app access if needed |
| Authentication is requested | The charger requires an approved account or key before charging can start. You can use an Easee Key already approved for this charger or site. | Set up app access |
| Charging does not start or stops later | A charging status, vehicle setting or site condition needs to be checked. | Troubleshoot charging |
02Set up app access when you need it
Continue here when authentication is required or you want to view and manage the charger in the Easee App.
Sign in to your Easee account
Use the account intended for this charger or site. If you do not have an account, create and confirm one first.
Create an Easee accountFollow the correct access path
Use the route for a recent installation, a move into a private home or a shared installation.
Open the access guideConfirm how access is provided
For a private installation, access is ready when the correct site and charger appear on the Home screen. At a shared or managed installation, use the account, key or operator app assigned by the responsible organisation. The charger may not appear in the Easee App.
03Choose who can charge
If you manage the charger, the access level decides who may start charging and whether a session can be assigned to an account.
Site Owner or Administrator required
Change an access level only when your role allows you to manage the site or charger.
| Access level | Who can charge? | Authentication | Consumption assignment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Open Open for everyone |
Anyone with physical access to the charger. | No authentication is required. | Recorded for the site and charger, but not assigned to a person. |
| Public Open for Easee accounts |
Anyone with an Easee account. A site invitation is not required. | Easee App, an account-linked Easee Key or a compatible RFID tag. | Can be assigned when authentication identifies an Easee account. |
| Private Approved users only |
Only people approved for the site or individual charger. | Easee App, or a key or tag assigned to an approved account. | Can be assigned to the approved account used for authentication. |
Use Open only when individual authentication is not needed
Anyone who can reach the charger may use it, and sessions cannot be assigned to individual people. Roles, linked chargers and operator-managed sites can change the correct setup.
Compare access and permissions04Add only the functions you need
Once charging and access work, add optional functions one at a time. Keep the setup as simple as the way the charger will be used.
Easee Keys
Use an account-linked Easee Key when authentication is required and charging sessions should be assigned to your account.
Choose and set up an Easee KeyCharging schedule
Use one main scheduling source. Avoid overlapping schedules in the Easee App, the vehicle and connected charging services.
Set a charging scheduleConsumption
View your own charging sessions in the Easee App. Detailed site reports and exports in Easee Control depend on your role and permissions.
View consumption reportsYour setup matches how you charge
Charging starts as expected. If authentication is required, the account, key or operator access assigned to you is also ready.
